A Cardigan-Covered Dent

Listen to Eleanor's poem ...
My nan disappeared last night.
No one will tell me where she went.
But she’s left a nan-shaped hole,
like a cardigan-covered dent.

She isn’t in her garden,
she isn’t in her chair.
I even checked inside her bed,
but she also isn’t there.

I thought she might be hiding,
or playing a silly game,
but she didn’t shout “I win!”
even when I called her name.

Her kettle hasn’t boiled.
Her biscuit tin is full.
And both her knitting needles
are empty with no wool.

I miss my nan a lot.
I hope she comes back soon.
And we’ll both sit upon her chair,
and watch an old cartoon.

And though she’s disappeared for now,
her dent will never fade.
And when we are together again,
I’ll tell her that it stayed.
