At the Octopuses Party
Come swim with me
Down deep in the sea
A party is starting
With afternoon tea
The hosts make a toast
When they see us appear
And it’s such a strange sight
That we can’t help but stare
They each hold eight glasses
With eight bendy straws
And offer us plates full of
Sweet seaweed smores
A tangle of arms
Invite us to dance
All wiggling and jiggling
We join, in a trance
We sway to the music
Of saltwater tunes
Surrounded by bubbles
Like big blue balloons
And then time for cake
No candles on top
But coated in coral
That crackle and pop
The surface is calling
Us home, up above
We must say goodbye
And give them our love
But not before hugs
(wrapped as tight as can be)
From our generous friends
Who’ve not one heart
but three
Down deep in the sea
A party is starting
With afternoon tea
The hosts make a toast
When they see us appear
And it’s such a strange sight
That we can’t help but stare
They each hold eight glasses
With eight bendy straws
And offer us plates full of
Sweet seaweed smores
A tangle of arms
Invite us to dance
All wiggling and jiggling
We join, in a trance
We sway to the music
Of saltwater tunes
Surrounded by bubbles
Like big blue balloons
And then time for cake
No candles on top
But coated in coral
That crackle and pop
The surface is calling
Us home, up above
We must say goodbye
And give them our love
But not before hugs
(wrapped as tight as can be)
From our generous friends
Who’ve not one heart
but three
