Axolotl Adrift: A Vanishing Poem
Swish, swash, the waters rise,
Moonlit shadows in disguise.
Two shimmering eyes, so bold and stark,
Glimmer softly through the dark.
With delicate gills, the axolotl waits,
Where shadows dance, it meditates.
Her kin are scattered, a fleeting view,
So rare, so precious and far too few.
Howling winds, the tempest blusters
For the courage she must muster.
To live, to strive, to find a way,
To face the storm, to stand and stay.
Whirl, twirl, the darkness deepens,
Lost to time, her future steepens.
Eyes veiled, it awaits,
Unaware of its own fate.
Moonlit shadows in disguise.
Two shimmering eyes, so bold and stark,
Glimmer softly through the dark.
With delicate gills, the axolotl waits,
Where shadows dance, it meditates.
Her kin are scattered, a fleeting view,
So rare, so precious and far too few.
Howling winds, the tempest blusters
For the courage she must muster.
To live, to strive, to find a way,
To face the storm, to stand and stay.
Whirl, twirl, the darkness deepens,
Lost to time, her future steepens.
Eyes veiled, it awaits,
Unaware of its own fate.
