Babysitting Brother in the Sun
My brother is sun tired - still a ray of light,
Warming a pillow, against the early night.
He was running blind across the zesty hill in an amber freefall,
Then he climbed up the rocket ship slide, like a little grasshopper,
Soon sipping water in gratitude on my flat lap…
Next splashing fountain streams up the spine of the garden waterslide…
Now he’s still as silent moonrock,
Eyelids as calm as envelopes waiting in the post,
Until tomorrow when he will moonwalk across the wide summer again.
