Dog’s Day Out

White paws pad on damp green.
Pink nose snuffling out the scene.
Today, it’s a cracker left behind.
And there’s a piece of orange rind!
Down the hatch they will go.
You’re so fast!
I’m so slow.
Now, a wiggle on your back.
Eyes roll up.
Jaws go slack.
Tail swishes side to side.
Spine takes a roller coaster ride.
Then that grey squirrel appears.
His nut nibbling hits your ears.
Up you jump, the mad race begins!
Once again, the squirrel wins.
