Don’t Forget the Fruit Flies
Everyone knows about man on the moon,
but historians forgot about us
our eggs were the first to orbit the earth
and the world didn’t make any fuss.
Our missions were greater than Noah’s Ark
our legacy taught mankind
to reach for the stars and enjoy the view
of the planet left behind.
Scientists spotted our genetic mix
was similar to men
we’ve travelled beyond gravity
time and time again.
We’ve tested radiation effects
from leaving the atmosphere
our giant leap for insect kind
sent humans without fear.
You celebrate NASA
Sputnik helped us here
but where’s the buzz for fruit flies?
the first to the final frontier.
but historians forgot about us
our eggs were the first to orbit the earth
and the world didn’t make any fuss.
Our missions were greater than Noah’s Ark
our legacy taught mankind
to reach for the stars and enjoy the view
of the planet left behind.
Scientists spotted our genetic mix
was similar to men
we’ve travelled beyond gravity
time and time again.
We’ve tested radiation effects
from leaving the atmosphere
our giant leap for insect kind
sent humans without fear.
You celebrate NASA
Sputnik helped us here
but where’s the buzz for fruit flies?
the first to the final frontier.
