Flight of the Firefly
evening sky blushes pink
and orange bonfire flames
send sparks dancing
through air, glowing
against the fading light
like a firefly against
pale skin. I lift
my cupped palms, spread my fingers
and the small bug
takes flight
drifting into the distance
blinking on and off
like a lighthouse
a beacon, a shining
sign of summer in
the darkening night
and orange bonfire flames
send sparks dancing
through air, glowing
against the fading light
like a firefly against
pale skin. I lift
my cupped palms, spread my fingers
and the small bug
takes flight
drifting into the distance
blinking on and off
like a lighthouse
a beacon, a shining
sign of summer in
the darkening night
