The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Hippopotamus

In a hollow for a wallow,
snug in a mud hug,
you’ll find the e n o o o o r m o u s
HIPPOPOTAMUS!

Hippopotamus loves mud alotamus 
daily mud baths not monotonous.

Hippopotamus loves mud alotamus 
her squish and squelch nonstopamus.

Hippopotamus loves mud alotamus
for cool sunscreen when it’s hotamus.

Hippopotamus loves mud alotamus
from its nostrils to its bottamus.

Hippopotamus loves mud alotamus.
Without it, life would be …
just ROTTAMUS!
