The Dirigible Balloon

Imagine the Future

Join my exciting hot-air balloon ride
we’ll repaint the world and you’ll be my guide.
I’ll take my treasured paintbox in a bag
tied by an Imagine the Future tag.

So, jump in quickly. Why are you waiting?
It’s time to start our wonderful painting.
We’ll paint a night sky with billions of stars
and see the planets from Neptune to Mars.

No light pollution in the evening skies
when we look up it will open our eyes,
to constellations once seen in the past
covered for years by their sky-glowing masks.

Next, we’ll travel over the Arctic coast
looking where the sea has melted the most.
We’ll start afresh with a coat of white ice
then dot it with polar bears in a trice.

Let’s fly over the Atlantic shorelines
paint out plastic so the endless beach shines.
We’ll brush out wildfires and paint green trees
and paint blue over the muddiest seas.

When we’re there we’ll skim over the oceans
peering downwards for climate commotions.
We’ll mix white paint with a sea hare’s red ink
to daub the coral reefs in pastel pink.

Our flight’s nearly over, we’re due to land
we’ll leave the balloon with climate change banned.
Now we’re back on the Earth, we have survived
and we know our planet has been revived.
