Instant Angels
Thunder
& lightning
& downpour!
My clothes beat against me
like whirling laundry,
but I may never see angels again,
a myriad of instant angels
with transparent wings
appearing/disappearing
on the black asphalt
of the gleaming street,
all wings in a funnel,
like transparent butterflies
landing on black flowers;
but their long funneling wings
are of water.
& lightning
& downpour!
My clothes beat against me
like whirling laundry,
but I may never see angels again,
a myriad of instant angels
with transparent wings
appearing/disappearing
on the black asphalt
of the gleaming street,
all wings in a funnel,
like transparent butterflies
landing on black flowers;
but their long funneling wings
are of water.
