The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Mrs Everest

Listen to Chrissie Gittins reading her poem
Mrs Everest is our headteacher,
she says we’re all climbing up a peak,
some of us get there quickly,
some of us take a week.

Mrs Everest says it doesn’t matter how fast or high we climb,
what matters is we take a stride –
as long as we are trying
her smile is wide, wide, wide.

Some of us stumble on a rock,
we need a helping hand,
there’s always someone to catch us,
to make it safe to land.
