Ollie the Yorkie’s Bromance with Trevor, Next Door’s Cat

Listen to Lesley ...
I’m Ollie the Yorkie
I’m woofy and barky
I act like a guard dog
A work-very-hard-dog
The scourge of the post-
man, the bin men, but most
of all nemesis of all things CAT.
I’m Trevor Next Door
I think dogs are a bore
I just stand there and purr
calmly cleaning my fur
with an elegant paw
It’s just best to ignore
the noise factory they call a DOG.
Trevor’s in Ollie’s basket
He did not even ask it
to come round to his place
Just look at his shocked face –
Ollie’s wagging like crazy
Trevor’s acting all lazy
and Ollie gets in for a spoon!
So there’s two types of rumbling
Emerging from the kitchen
And one is some purring
The other is snoring
Squished up on a cushion
A dog on a mission
To cuddle with Trevor Next Door.

About the Writer

Lesley James

Lesley writes for young people and less young people. Many of her stories and poems for children are set in Lesley’s Garden, where a cast of birds, beasts and minibeasts live. She loves playing with words - rhythms, rhymes, tongue-twisters - and telling real tales. Nothing is more funny, thrilling or entertaining than the real life you can see from your own window.
