The Dirigible Balloon

Pebbles

I hear rumbles, grumbles, and booms in the world.
I feel trouble and worry and gloom unfurl,
too heavy for one kid to carry around—
like a boulder dug up from deep underground.

So I'll do what I can on my own, that's my rule:
scatter pebbles of kindness at home and at school.
Each act of small kindness flares like a spark
that brightens the way when the day feels dark.
