The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Rainbow

This poem is a diamante poem. Diamante poetry follows a specific non-rhyming seven-line pattern:

noun,
adjective, adjective
verb, verb, verb
noun, noun, noun, noun
verb, verb, verb
adjective, adjective
noun

The goal is to create a diamond shape with descriptive words on a particular theme. The first and last words can either be synonyms or antonyms.

In this poem, I created an antonym diamante using only words with ‘r’ sounds to show how the very same storms that scare us can turn into calming rainbows.
