Slow Loris – Toxic Culture
In Asian treetops, one slow loris
fancied learning nine mens morris,
but just the tiniest online glance
transferred his thoughts to Morris dance.
Had there ever been a loris
learning the art of Cotswold Morris?
Cotswold glossary, Issue B
was applicable to she or he
with an index, one full page of paper
listing all the types of caper –
Double, Furrie, Plain and Slow,
terms our loris needs must know.
Hook Leg might just suit a loris –
he made a plan to leave the forest.
Finding a suitable side or set
seemed the biggest challenge yet ...
as well as being poisonous and small ...
our loris digested this bitter gall.
Wait – Rodney, Betty, Hobby Horse and Fool,
Ragman, the Cake Bearer - this sounds cool –
supernumerary characters, hey, a chance
to include Slow Loris in Morris dance?
"Slow Lorises are a study in contradictions" *
which explains the Morris predilections,
with two tongues (one rude) and a poisonous bite,
better to dream in the jungle's night.
