Snow Day
(a very chilly poem)I watch the snow scenes on the news:
kids tobogganing, bears in zoos.
Snow’s the one thing every kid loves,
except for me. I forgot my gloves!
I drag the sledge out with my brother
but just ignore my frantic mother
banging on the window-pane.
Uh oh, forgot my hat again!
Dad says ‘Let’s have a snowball fight’
I’m frozen but I say ‘Alright’.
We’re white as snowmen. It’s a laugh;
wish I’d remembered to wear a scarf!
A blizzard falls like a magic gift;
we make snow angels in the drift.
My back is cold, my neck, my throat –
knew I should have worn my coat!
What’s this? Now my feet are wet,
my toes are cold as cold can get,
I’m cold from my nose down to my roots
Now, where did I put my welly boots?
kids tobogganing, bears in zoos.
Snow’s the one thing every kid loves,
except for me. I forgot my gloves!
I drag the sledge out with my brother
but just ignore my frantic mother
banging on the window-pane.
Uh oh, forgot my hat again!
Dad says ‘Let’s have a snowball fight’
I’m frozen but I say ‘Alright’.
We’re white as snowmen. It’s a laugh;
wish I’d remembered to wear a scarf!
A blizzard falls like a magic gift;
we make snow angels in the drift.
My back is cold, my neck, my throat –
knew I should have worn my coat!
What’s this? Now my feet are wet,
my toes are cold as cold can get,
I’m cold from my nose down to my roots
Now, where did I put my welly boots?
