The Night Sky
Super moon and supernovas,
Shooting stars with flaming tails.
Satellites and glowing planets;
Where asteroids and comets sail.
Ursa Major, Ursa Minor -
Constellations fill the sky -
Cassiopeia, Pleiades,
Orion’s Belt and Gemini.
High across the night-time sky
A billion stars we cannot see.
Our solar system lies inside
The Milky Way, a galaxy,
In the north sky high above,
A very faint and constant star.
For the traveller, Polaris is
A most important star, by far.
When I look up to these heavens
Full of bright and twinkling light.
A universe so vast, it makes me
Feel quite small tonight.
Shooting stars with flaming tails.
Satellites and glowing planets;
Where asteroids and comets sail.
Ursa Major, Ursa Minor -
Constellations fill the sky -
Cassiopeia, Pleiades,
Orion’s Belt and Gemini.
High across the night-time sky
A billion stars we cannot see.
Our solar system lies inside
The Milky Way, a galaxy,
In the north sky high above,
A very faint and constant star.
For the traveller, Polaris is
A most important star, by far.
When I look up to these heavens
Full of bright and twinkling light.
A universe so vast, it makes me
Feel quite small tonight.
