The School Kitchen Boogie Bop

Listen to Linda read her poem
Shutters down, behind closed doors,
Feet tap tapping, shuffling floors,
Music beating favourite tracks,
Filtering through slimline cracks,
Digging the cool school kitchen groove,
The pots and pans team strut their moves.

There’s a lively jive of kicks and flicks
Whilst frying the Friday fish and chips.
And sharp, staccato steps of tango
While chop chopping aromatic mango.
There’s floaty balletic swirls and twirls
While sandwiching jam in Viennese whirls.
And tight acrobatic power moves
In between slicing the onions for stews.
There’s click, click clicking with tap, tap taps
Whilst breaking open the burger baps.
And flowy quickstep rise and fall
In between rolling the veggie balls.
There’s even promenade samba runs
While white icing rows of finger buns.
And magic moonwalking and hip-hopping
In between peeling veggies, chop, chop chopping.

Bouncing boogie, bop bopping fit,
The grand finale: a line of splits!
And after a fast flurry of jolly jazz hands,
It’s time to get back to those pots and pans!
