The Thundersprite

As lightning streaks across the sky,
The wind howls with all its might,
You probably don't yet realise,
That it's caused by The Thundersprite.
He moves through the blustering storm,
Hopping on every cloud,
This causes the rain to fall,
And makes the thunder loud.

As he skips from cloud to cloud,
Into each one he clashes,
He'll thwack them all together,
To create the lightning flashes.
He'll turn the rain into hailstones,
When the air is cold,
The smaller ones are used as marbles,
And the bigger ones are bowled.

That's why, when thunder gets so loud,
And starts to shake the walls,
Don't worry, it's only The Thundersprite,
Using hail as bowling balls.
This trickster isn't all that bad,
He really means no harm,
He helps the earth to feel refreshed,
It's all part of his charm.

So next time you are feeling afraid,
Remember, he doesn't bite,
He just wants to have some fun,
For he is The Thundersprite

About the Writer

Jacoby Crane

Jacoby is an eccentric artist living in Derbyshire. They spend their time baking, making peculiar things, doodling doodles and writing oddities, currently they're focusing on poetry and working on a children's fantasy novel called Lumi. Jacoby's inspiration mostly comes from their unusual dreams and the weirdly wonderful things their kids quote, but their muse comes in the forms of Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell.
