Vanilla Villanelle

Have a listen to Attie reading her poem ...
My favourite ice cream flavour is vanilla
nothing beats it, no new flavour I try.
Mum never buys it though it wouldn't kill her.

I've looked in every freezer, every chiller
for a better tasting flavour with my pie.
My favourite ice cream flavour is vanilla.

Mum got raspberry, pistachio, gorilla
(well actually, that last one was a lie).
Mum never buys it though it wouldn't kill her.

I roar and growl at Mum, just like Godzilla:
"Just get the one I like, Mum!" is my cry.
My favourite ice cream flavour is vanilla.

On Saturday night I’d love it with a thriller
or a weepy movie, not an eye left dry.
Mum never buys it though it wouldn’t kill her.

So, we have butterscotch, banana, sarsaparilla
I eat them all, a spoon for every sigh.
My favourite ice cream flavour is vanilla,
Mum never buys it though it wouldn’t kill her.
